What is your studio and location? 

I have a small home studio in my home in Hamilton, New Zealand

How long have you been tattooing for? 

I’m not a tattoo artist, but I’ve been creating art my whole life!

What is your preferred tattoo style?

I love maximalist art that’s also clean, refined and with a retro twist

What other art mediums do you practice?

I’ve produced a few large paintings using acrylics

What are your career highlights?

Being able to jump from corporate graphic design into freelance illustration full-time was huge for me

What do you love about RTLA?

I’ve always been a fan of highly-skilled tattoo artists and their extreme creativity and dedication to their craft, so seeing this applied to clothing as a medium is definitely what I love most

What does ‘Defy the Ordinary’ mean to you?

Not following ’the herd’ and blazing your own trail

Iain Spanhake (AKA @enoxart).

He describes his style as a mix of pop art, graffiti, pop culture, 80’s/90’s cartoons, and early skate culture with a dash of Japanese Kawaii.

It’s cute, but has this edgy/mischievous vibe about it too. He creates mainly within digital illustration, but also dabbles in mixed mediums on canvas and wood.

He’s participated in mural festivals and gallery shows in his homeland, New Zealand.
